Assistant Director of Individual Giving

Responsible for acting as the liaison to CancerCare’s direct response vendor, triaging internal reviews and approvals of relevant materials and coordinating strategies. The Assistant Director carries a portfolio of high-end annual giving and planned giving prospects/donors while managing, promoting, and expanding “Team CancerCare” peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving, s/he facilitates employee giving campaigns and develops proposals for all levels of individual gifts in collaboration with senior staff. Responsible for acting as the liaison to CancerCare’s direct response vendor, triaging internal reviews and approvals of relevant materials and coordinating strategies. The Assistant Director carries a portfolio of high-end annual giving and planned giving prospects/donors while managing, promoting, and expanding “Team CancerCare” peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving, s/he facilitates employee giving campaigns and develops proposals for all levels of individual gifts in collaboration with senior staff.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Approximately 50% of the Assistant Director’s time will be devoted to local travel to visit assigned ADIG prospects, with a goal of 100 face-to-face prospect visits per year. The ADIG Officer will complete necessary follow up and contact reports after each visit.
  • Coordinate the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for an ADIG prospect pool of approximately 200 prospects.
  • Identify prospects capable of giving $2,500+ on an annual basis, with a goal of securing 25 new commitments per year.
  • Supervises all personnel involved with the annual fund operations; including the Individual Giving Associate/Portfolio Manager
Qualifications

Bachelor’s and at least 7 years of development experience, a proven track record of donor cultivation and supervisory experience.

Knowledge and Skillst
  • This position requires a command of up-to-date principles of annual giving, and a high level of organization and professionalism, together with the tools to be a successful frontline fundraiser.
  • Experience with direct response marketing and working with volunteers.
  • Be comfortable with face-to-face solicitations, have strong negotiation skills and a high energy level.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and analytical skills; excellent interpersonal skill including tact, diplomacy, a sense of humor, and the ability to work in partnership with volunteers, faculty, and colleagues at all levels;
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and integrated prospect management systems (Raiser’s Edge preferred) and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The successful candidate will possess: excellent public speaking, presentation, and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to confer confidently with a broad spectrum of constituents.
